Overview
Computer Operations Evening Tech Role (Technician, Part‑Time). Division:
Central Virginia Community College.
Location:
Lynchburg, VA. Telework:
None.
Schedule:
Monday‑Thursday 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM (28 hours per week). Pay Range: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour.
- Respond to routine user assistance and support requests for computer software and hardware.
- Repair and maintain computers, peripherals, and audio/visual equipment.
- Install computers and associated peripherals; perform routine software upgrades.
- Develop and document user tips, instructions, and procedures to streamline tasks for IT staff.
- Document problem resolution status and forward complex issues to higher‑level staff.
- Assist IT staff in the coordination and completion of projects, including lab reloads, hardware upgrades, and audio/visual setups.
- May be required to perform additional duties as assigned and assist during emergency declarations by the Governor.
- Working knowledge of computer installation, repair, and maintenance of peripherals and desktop software, including Microsoft Office and audio/visual equipment.
- Familiarity with local area networks and troubleshooting methods.
- Experience with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to perform inventory control functions.
- Ability to perform installation, configuration, integration, upgrading, repairing and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems.
- Training and experience may substitute for an AAS in Computer Information Systems.
- AAS in Computer Information Systems or a comparable combination of training and experience.
Position Type:
Part‑time. No telework options. No supervisory responsibilities. No required travel.
