Principal Unity Engineer

Location: Richmond, USA Salary: $20-30/hr

• Lay out and implement key gameplay and engine features independently or supervise large engineering or cross‑disciplinary groups.
• Collaborate with the Director and project teams to outline technical specifications for large‑scale systems.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to develop verticals that improve performance and fine‑tune performance.
• Demonstrate knowledge and ownership across multiple regions of the codebase.
• Mentor, motivate, and encourage junior engineers.
• Lead cross‑disciplinary discussions from preliminary idea to final implementation.
• Establish, practice, and enforce coding standards and best practices for branches and mission groups.
• Collaborate with other engineers to organize, replace, and manage shared libraries of property and procedure files.
• Exemplify reliability, responsibility, and professionalism in all game‑related collaboration.
• Lead by example, cultivating a robust culture of excellence and community.

• Expert programming and architectural skills across multiple development environments.
• Ability to evaluate code objectively and provide constructive performance improvements.
• Effective coordination and partnership building within engineering and other development verticals.
• Strong project management fundamentals, including proactive communication, meeting moderation, and oversight of complex tasks.
• Capacity to manage multiple competing responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Positive communication style and willingness to give and receive constructive feedback.
• Strong leadership and agency skills.

• Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related degree, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience delivering production‑quality code in a professional environment.
• Experience shipping multiple successful recreation products to market.
• Experience with iOS or Android mobile development within Unity 3D environments.
• Experience supporting live operations.
• Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, or similar issue tracking tools.

Typical hours: 10:00am – 6:00pm CST. Availability for conferences during these hours is required.
