This position is part of the adjunct coaching pool for men's soccer. The successful applicant will coach intercollegiate soccer to a highly diverse student population, including teaching class sessions, organizing practices, and preparing athletes for competition.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering curriculum for soccer instruction in various modalities.
- Coaching games and tournaments scheduled in the evening and/or on Saturdays.
- Collaborating with colleagues to support a learning environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service.
- Participating in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
- Assessing student learning outcomes and maintaining subject–matter currency.
- Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, staff, and stakeholders.
- Utilizing computer skills and exploring new technologies that benefit the program.
- Demonstrating commitment to the California community college mission.
- Bachelor's degree and at least two years of coaching experience.
- Associate's degree and at least six years of coaching experience.
- Equivalents: combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments judged equal to the above.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Degree and credits from an accredited institution (Title V, Section 53406); foreign degrees must be evaluated by an accredited credential evaluation service.
- Proof of a completed application for equivalence if needed (currently not required for this posting).
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service.
- Ability to work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
- Ability to develop curriculum and deliver it in different modalities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain subject‑matter currency and to assess student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
