Role
In support of Alta One Federal Credit Union's Vision, Mission, Values, and Culture, the Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data infrastructure and business intelligence solutions that drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from various sources into the data warehouse.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability throughout the data pipeline.
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and metadata to support business intelligence and analytics needs.
- Collaborate with data architects to design scalable and efficient data architectures.
- Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Optimize database queries and BI solutions for performance and scalability.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and BI systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. Proven experience as a Data Engineer, BI Developer, or similar role. Strong experience with SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, Postgre
SQL, SQL Server). Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Apache Nifi, Talend, Informatica) and data integration techniques. Proficiency in BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker). Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query). Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala) for data processing.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
