Software Specialist​/Engineer

Overview

The Defense Systems Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Software Specialist/Engineer in the Ridgecrest, CA office. The role supports the Aircrew Electronic Warfare (AEWTTR) mission by providing engineering support for the design, modification, and maintenance of ground radar and associated devices used in Navy Aircrew EW training.

• Work closely with engineers and scientists using C++ and Python to solve problems across multiple disciplines.
• Participate in multiple projects, applying intermediate proficiency in C++ and Python.
• Apply object‑oriented design principles and create design documentation, requirements specifications, and other technical documentation.
• Communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and develop software for both Windows and Linux operating systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with 4–8 years of prior relevant software development experience, or a master’s with 2–6 years of relevant experience. Additional education, experience, or training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Background in information systems design, development, and analysis, with expertise in programming, PC application analysis, and software development.
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
• Intermediate proficiency in C++/Python and experience using version control systems such as Git.
• Experience with engineering software, including system designs, development, PC application programming, software development, and systems integration.
• Willingness to work on site in Ridgecrest, California.
