Controller Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, and related financial operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Provide leadership, development, and performance management to the accounting team.
- Partner with tax leaders and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of tax-related schedules and filings.
- Contribute to strategic projects, process optimization initiatives, and organizational growth efforts.
- Establish clear objectives, accountability measures, and best practices to support department success.
- Support cash flow reporting, forecasting processes, and lender/investor reporting requirements.
- Lead annual financial statement audits and coordinate with external auditors.
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Provide technical accounting support for detailed business transactions and initiatives.
- Support statutory reporting requirements and regulatory filings as applicable.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to address audit requests and recommendations.
- Interface with executive leadership and external business partners regarding financial reporting matters and accounting policy considerations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems, financial applications, and accounting technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting teams and complex financial processes.
- Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
- Proven ability to present financial information to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Public accounting background, preferably with a nationally recognized firm.
- Strong familiarity with U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS reporting requirements.
