Position: Research Assistant - Next-Generation Clinically Relevant Models of Fibrosis and Wound Healing (MFW)

About Team MFW

The goal of our team, led by Dr. Lorenzo Talà, is to create advanced models that recapitulate human physiology, allowing for drug discovery tailored to humans without the need for animal experimentation. The primary aim of this project is to create models that closely mimic human physiology, enabling more efficient and effective drug discovery processes, and to develop the next generation of organ‑on‑a‑chip models for fibrosis and wound healing.

Job Description

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our team and contribute to the development of the next‑generation in vitro and predictive models of fibrosis and wound healing by performing the following tasks:

  • Assist in analysis of experimental results using bioinformatics tools
  • Develop a knowledge graph based model
  • Assist in wet lab experiments when needed
  • Presentation of scientific results to stakeholders
  • Flexibility to adapt to a broader range of responsibilities when necessary
Required Skills

Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • BSc or MSc degree in Data science, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Biomedical sciences, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in data science (Python/R, statistics, machine learning)
  • Strong experience in bioinformatics, particularly single‑cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‑seq) analysis
  • Hands‑on experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) and query languages such as Cypher
  • Experience with data modeling and knowledge graph development
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Additional (preferred) Skills

Candidates with expertise in the following areas will be given preference:

  • Familiarity with biomedical ontologies and biological network analysis
  • Ability to integrate biological and computational data
  • Interest in learning wet lab practices
What We Offer
  • The position is fully funded by Boehringer Ingelheim.
  • International, diverse, and positive work atmosphere with a flexible working environment.
  • NIH‑Aligned salary with employee benefits plan.
  • Access to a vast scientific network.
