Position: Scientist II (Analytical Science)
Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Scientist II (Analytical Science) for a contract position with a Major Pharmaceutical Company located in Ridgefield, CT. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role involves executing high-level lab work for new therapeutic modalities such as peptides, oligonucleotides, and antibodies. The successful candidate will lead experimental studies to build product knowledge, troubleshoot equipment, and independently complete laboratory procedures in a cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Execute lab work at a high level for new therapeutic modalities (e.g., peptides, oligonucleotides, virus, antibodies, non-viral delivery systems, etc.)
• Lead in implementing experimental studies to build product and process knowledge
• Initiate and complete routine laboratory procedures in an independent and efficient manner;
  Troubleshoot equipment and experiments effectively and solve scientific problems independently;
  Operate lab equipment and be responsible for maintenance
• Design and execute non-routine experiments with minimal supervision
• Contribute to lab organization, reagent tracking and other tasks as determined appropriate
• Independently present scientific findings in project team or Department meetings
• Actively participate in cross-functional teams/initiatives
• Independently write protocols, SOPs, and technical reports in accordance with company policies
• Independently apply basic scientific principles and technology, perform literature searches, and keep abreast of relevant literature
• Collect, treat and report data with a high level of integrity and ethics
• Effectively communicate work orally and in writing, including writing protocols, procedures, and technical documents
• Understand and apply appropriate regulations, legal requirements, and company policies to ensure safe and compliant practices

Requirements:

• Master's Degree with 4+ years of experience in a related field or Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of experience in a related field
• Experience with wet chemistry preparation methods (Buffers, mobile phases, multi-component formulation preparation)
• Experience with traditional chromatography methods such as all modes of HPLC, Field Flow Fractionation (FFF/AF4), SEC, etc
• Ability to plan and conduct laboratory experiments, and to evaluate, interpret, and report technical data
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Desired skills:

• Experience with NMR spectroscopy analysis
• Experience with sub-micron particle sizing methodologies such as DLS or Flow Cam
• Experience with fluorescent labelling, microscopy and/or image analysis
• Experience with biophysical testing; DNA/RNA isolation, electrophoresis, PCR, etc

Pay range: up to $42.90 per hour
