What will the regional manager do?
The regional manager is responsible for leading the operational performance of multiple terminals and their teams, including terminal managers and driver managers. This role ensures consistent execution of company standards, safety, service levels, and profitability across the region. The regional manager collaborates with leadership to implement strategic initiatives and uses data-driven insights to optimize performance, streamline processes, and enhance the driver experience.
Through leadership, accountability, and cross-functional coordination, the regional manager plays a critical role in supporting driver-focused operations and delivering high-performance outcomes across multiple sites.
What is the regional manager responsible for?
Provide direct oversight and leadership to terminal managers and driver managers across a defined geographic regionDrive alignment with operational KPIs including safety, productivity, utilization, and financial performanceSupport and retain high-performing teams by fostering engagement, addressing concerns proactively, and supporting individual development and recognition effortsIdentify performance gaps across terminals and create action plans for improvementOversee regional scheduling, equipment allocation, and terminal-level dispatch consistencyEnsure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety programsMonitor driver engagement and collaborate with local leaders to enhance driver retention and performanceLead weekly and monthly performance reviews with direct reports; provide actionable coaching and feedbackSupport the rollout of strategic initiatives including system rollouts, process improvements, and growth planningConduct on-site terminal visits, operational audits, and team check-ins on a regular cadenceEscalate and resolve regional service disruptions, staffing gaps, or high-risk safety concernsPromote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-terminal collaborationPerform other related duties as assignedSupervisory responsibilities:
Responsibility for managing performance and relevant performance feedback, providing motivation and encouragementInterpreting policy and ensuring policy compliance to include execution of progressive discipline for policy violations.Scheduling and managing time and attendanceManaging auto hauler complaints and monitoring satisfaction levelsMonitoring auto hauler production and handling inquiries relative to pay and incentive programsMay be required to perform other supervisory duties.What knowledge, skills and abilities are required for the regional manager role?
Associate or technical degree in logistics, transportation, business or related field preferredExperience in logistics and dispatch, preferably within auto hauling distribution.Demonstrated experience leading, directing, communicating change and developing a team strongly desired.Knowledge of transportation enterprise software applications.Working knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance.Solid written and oral skills with a strong ability to work with othersAptitude to gain further competency in transportation analysis toolsKnowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations and safety.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of TMW and People Net a plus.Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and completion in preparing and entering information.Highly organized, proficient in prioritization, attention to detail and possessing a high level of accuracy.Ability to provide positive reinforcement and possess a positive attitude.Must possess ability to provide timely follow up to drivers and management.Comfortable working in a high-stress environment and ability to stay calm under…
