Sanitation Manager will be responsible for overseeing all sanitation practices and ensuring our bakery manufacturing facility meets stringent food safety standards. You will lead a team of sanitation staff, develop and implement cleaning procedures, and ensure our facility consistently passes inspections and audits. The ideal candidate will have experience in food safety management, a strong knowledge of sanitation practices, and leadership skills to drive our team’s success.
Key Responsibilities- Sanitation Programs
:
Design, review and oversee effective sanitation processes that comply with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, BRC, SQF,etc.). - Inspection and Audits
:
Conduct routine inspections of the facility, ensuring all areas, equipment, and surfaces meet hygiene standards. Prepare for third-party audits and regulatory inspections. - Team Leadership and Training
:
Lead, train, and supervise sanitation personnel to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. Conduct training on hygiene practices, proper chemical handling, and safety protocols. - Cleaning and Sanitation Schedules
:
Ensure cleaning procedures are followed and maintain an up-to-date sanitation schedule to minimize downtime and ensure production efficiency. - Record Keeping
:
Maintain accurate documentation of sanitation activities, inspections, corrective actions, and compliance with food safety regulations. - Inventory Management
:
Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment to ensure proper stock levels and safe handling. - Risk Management
:
Identify potential sanitation risks and implement preventive measures to avoid contamination, cross-contamination, and product safety concerns.
- Education
:
Associate or bachelor’s degree, Food Safety, Microbiology, or related field preferred. - Experience
:
Minimum of 3-5 years in food safety, sanitation, or quality control within a food manufacturing environment (bakery experience is preferred). Experience preparing for and participating with BRC or SQF audits. - Certifications
:- HACCP Certification (or equivalent)
- Serv Safe Food Safety Certification.
- OSHA Certification (preferred).
- CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, BRC, SQF, FDA regulations).
- Strong understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and sanitation techniques.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to speak English and Spanish.
- Ability to develop and implement sanitation procedures and programs.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with sanitation record-keeping and using sanitation tracking systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
- Must be comfortable working with chemicals and cleaning agents.
- Strong communication skills for training and interacting with team members and management.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and prioritize responsibilities.
