Postdoc - Next-Generation Clinically Relevant Models of Fibrosis and Wound Healing (MFW) Job Description
We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our team and contribute to the development of the next-generation in vitro models of fibrosis and wound healing by performing the following tasks:
- Design and execute experiments to differentiate and characterize wound healing versus fibrotic states in organ-on-chip systems
- Integrate immune components (e.g., macrophages, cytokine environments) into the chip to model inflammatory and fibrotic processes
- Perform and analyze multi-modal datasets (e.g., transcriptomics, imaging, cytokine profiling)
- Collaborate across disciplines to refine the biological relevance and predictive power of the platform
- Presentation of scientific results to stakeholders
- Flexibility to adapt to a broader range of responsibilities when necessary
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences, Fibrosis Biology, or related field
- Strong background in tissue repair, fibrosis, or inflammatory biology
- Experience with 3D in vitro models, organ-on-chip systems, or tissue engineering approaches
- Proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., qPCR, immunostaining)
- Basic proficiency in data analysis (Python/R, statistics)
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to design and interpret experiments
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Candidates with expertise in the following areas will be given preference:
- Experience in 3D bioprinting
- Deep knowledge of fibrosis mechanisms (e.g., TGF‑β signaling, ECM deposition), preferably in the skin
- Experience with immune cell biology, particularly innate immunity and/or vascular biology or angiogenesis
- Familiarity with single‑cell or omics approaches
- Experience with quantitative image analysis (e.g., Image
J, Cell Profiler)
- The position is fully funded by Boehringer Ingelheim.
- International, diverse, and positive work atmosphere with a flexible working environment.
- NIH‑Aligned salary with employee benefits plan.
- Access to a vast scientific network.
