Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer I to be based in Jackson, Mississippi with the office located in Ridgeland, MS.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the design and development of roadway, highway, and transportation infrastructure projects throughout Mississippi under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Prepare engineering calculations, construction plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports for transportation projects.
- Develop roadway alignments, profiles, cross-sections, intersections, and drainage layouts using industry-standard design software.
- Support the collection, review, and analysis of survey, traffic, utility, and engineering data.
- Utilize Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD), Micro Station, and related software to develop roadway design solutions.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, technicians, and other disciplines to deliver transportation projects that meet client and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with quality control reviews of engineering drawings and design documents.
- Learn and apply Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) design criteria, standards, and specifications.
- Support project delivery by helping maintain schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
- Participate in field visits, site assessments, and project meetings as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire.
- Familiarity with Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD), Micro Station, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Internship, co-op, or academic project experience related to roadway or transportation engineering.
- Familiarity with MDOT design standards, specifications, and project delivery processes.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of roadway geometrics, drainage design, traffic control, and transportation engineering fundamentals.
- 1+ years of experience in roadway, transportation, or civil engineering.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available for this position.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
- Occasional travel within Mississippi may be required.
