Financial Consultant, Wealth Management
Trustmark Investment Management operates as a fiduciary in the management and advising Wealth clients. These activities include financial planning, asset allocation, security selection, trading implementation, and other activities as required of a regulated bank providing wealth services.
The purpose of this position is to prepare and present financial plans and financial planning services (i.e. Advice) to high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients and prospective clients, while acting in a fiduciary capacity at all times. Financial Planners analyze clients’ financial wellbeing based on the client’s balance sheet, goals, objectives, and other family considerations. They design and present individualized, comprehensive and/or modular financial plans as part of the service team comprised of Portfolio Managers, Wealth Advisors, Client Executives, Private Bankers, and Investment Analysts.
Topics may include, but are not limited to retirement & income planning, estate planning, trusts structures, charitable plans and gifting, and tax planning with both internal and external professionals.
Leveling: This position may be filled as a Level I, II or III. Additional responsibilities and qualifications apply.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other members of the Wealth team in solving client needs and complex issues related to life, business, and planning.
- Coordinate plans and workflow with Analysts who support the financial planning process.
- Meet with prospects and clients to discover needs, goals, and objectives, review client information, and present financial plans with their service team.
- Design financial plans with recommendations based on client data and goals.
- Maintain systems to track financial planning activities, progress, and results.
- Travel as needed to conduct meetings and presentations to clients, prospects, internal company presentations, and external advisory firms and civic organizations.
- Proven work ethic with high level of integrity to build trust with our clients and internal partners.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Level II Additional Responsibilities:
- Guide and mentor individuals in the Analyst and Financial Planner I roles.
- Help financial planning and Wealth Team members stay abreast of current issues in financial planning as well as tax and estate/gift laws relevant to our business.
- Work with more complex client cases, requiring additional analysis and/or high-level input and guidance.
- Proactively engage bank partners to create awareness while representing Wealth and Financial Planning capabilities and expertise.
- Act as a leader within the team and among bank business partners with influence that extends beyond the Wealth team sphere.
- Ability to articulate the value and importance of financial planning services.
- Ensure a seamless delivery of our comprehensive wealth management approach while leveraging additional partners and resources as appropriate.
Level III Additional Responsibilities:
- Guide and mentor individuals in the Analyst and Financial Planner I/II roles.
- Work with highly complex client cases, requiring additional analysis and/or expert-level input and guidance.
- Proactively engage bank partners and external COIs to create awareness while representing Wealth and Financial Planning capabilities and expertise.
- Coordinate with Wealth Leadership and managers to refine the Financial Planning process, infrastructure, deliverables, and experience – both internally and externally.
- Act as a leader within the team and among bank business partners with influence that extends beyond the Wealth team sphere, both within the company and externally.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study
- 3 years of experience in the Financial Services industry (e.g., investment analysis, financial planning, investment management, or similar endeavor).
- Certified Financial Planner® (CFP) or Certified Wealth Strategist (CWS) designation.
- Applicants who already hold the CPA or CFA designation may complete the CFP during their first year of employment, under the CFP Board’s Accelerated Path option.
