About the Role

Are you ready to invent the future of cloud infrastructure? Join us to shape a new era in cloud computing and build a career that matches your ambition. We are looking for Cloud Engineers to design, deploy, and operate the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) layer of the Outscale cloud.

You will work at the intersection of our Platform as a Service (PaaS) and the underlying physical infrastructure, driving automation, expanding services to new regions, and ensuring the platform is secure, resilient, high-performing, and compliant.

You will partner with infrastructure development, automation, and operations teams to implement cloud best practices and deliver production-ready, compliant cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities Automation & Operations
  • Deploy, manage, maintain, and operate Outscale cloud using best‑practice patterns for scalability, performance, and security.
  • Build, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines with Terraform, Ansible/Salt Stack, Packer, Jenkins, etc.
  • Own the full lifecycle of our IaaS environment, from initial provisioning to continuous supervision, placing a strong emphasis on process automation.
Industrialisation of Deployments
  • Automate and industrialise deployments, updates, and regional expansions; ensure repeatable, auditable release pipelines.
Innovation & Optimisation
  • Propose and implement system improvements that boost performance, resilience, and cost‑efficiency.
  • Contribute directly to the technological evolution of the platform.
Performance, Monitoring & KPIs
  • Define, implement, and refine critical KPIs (SLI, SLO, SLA).
  • Build and maintain observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, ELK) to proactively detect and resolve issues.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system performance, reliability, and scalability.
Reliability & Resiliency
  • Identify and remediate single points of failure and security risks; ensure system resiliency.
  • Analyse and address performance and scalability challenges with durable solutions.
Knowledge Sharing & Documentation
  • Write clear technical documentation, runbooks, and operational playbooks.
  • Conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions and internal training to keep the team up‑to‑date.
Level 3 Incident Investigation & On‑Call
  • Perform deep‑dive investigations on escalations from client support.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and provide timely resolutions.
Collaboration
  • Strengthen relationships with internal (development, security, product) and external (vendors, partners) teams to foster a collaborative, innovative environment.
Capacity Planning & Road‑Mapping
  • Assist in capacity planning and roadmap development for future infrastructure growth.
Compliance
  • Ensure all cloud‑engineering practices comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., VA standards).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Dev Ops, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Proven expertise in Unix/Linux environments with strong scripting/automation skills (Bash, Python).
  • Expert‑level proficiency with Salt Stack or Ansible (Salt Stack preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of networking fundamentals, physical and virtual system & storage infrastructure.
  • Hands‑on experience provisioning, orchestrating, and managing virtual resources.
  • Familiarity with data protection, disaster‑recovery strategies, and compliance frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with an automation‑first approach.
