Job Description Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical team. In this role, you will provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. This fast-paced environment requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
As a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical unit, you will assess patient needs, develop and implement care plans, administer medications, and monitor patient progress. Collaboration with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff is essential to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position demands critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Assess patient health problems and needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or abnormalities.
- Document patient care accurately and completely in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, medications, and treatment plans.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Respond to patient emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior experience in a Medical Surgical setting.
- Certification in a relevant specialty area (e.g., Medical Surgical Nursing).
- Proficient in medication administration, including IV therapy.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot medical equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
