Position Purpose
Observes and inspects construction of water, sewer, street, and drainage projects; assures compliance with plans and specifications. This is an in-person position that is not eligible for regular remote work.
Experience And Training- Minimum Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required; trade school and/or college education specializing in construction related disciplines, such as civil engineering or construction management preferred. - Job Requirements:
Valid Colorado Driver's License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Ability to pass background check and MVR with results that are acceptable to the City of Rifle. - Special Training or
Experience:
Training in and knowledge of materials, equipment, and methods used in Public Works construction projects; experience in reading/interpreting engineering plans, drawings, and specifications; basic understanding of soils and material testing equipment. - Work Experience in Positions Similar or Related to This Job:
At least 5 years progressively responsible experience with civil infrastructure construction. Experience with and knowledge of capital improvement, real estate development, and maintenance projects involving construction of infrastructure required.
** This a full-time position with benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as retirement, vacation, sick and holiday pay. The wage range is $29.82 to $32.87 hourly depending on experience and qualifications. This position is open until September 8th, 2026, at 5:00 PM. **
