Job SummaryThe primary function of a Patrol Officer is to promote the peace, safety, and well‑being of our community through interaction, education, and enforcement of the law. The Patrol Officer is responsible for delivering police services to the community, answering 911 calls, taking reports, solving problems, and participating in community outreach and events.

Experience and Training- Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required;
Associate’s Degree or higher preferred. - Valid Colorado Driver’s License required with an acceptable driving record. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must be able to pass a thorough background and credit check, pre-employment medical exam and drug test, a polygraph, and a psychological examination acceptable to the City of Rifle.

This position is full-time. Entry-level wage for POST certified candidates is $34.88/hr ($78,000 annually). Lateral officer wage, dependent upon experience, ranges from $36.80/hr ($82,290 annually) to $42.20/hr ($94,356 annually). The maximum wage range for officer is $51.59/hr ($115,350 annually). Wage offers for experienced officers reflect experience. This position is open until filled.
