As Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Operations Technician II,III, you'll work with a team of safety-focused technicians to maximize equipment reliability and availability. Mentoring team mates, troubleshooting and solving sophisticated problems efficiently, and attention to detail are keys to success in this role!
Day in the Life
In this role, you'll find yourself at the heart of natural gas facility operations, supporting pipeline systems by installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation equipment. You'll actively contribute to programming and controls-related tasks, perform calibrations and inspections to ensure accuracy, and execute field upgrades and rewiring projects. Your commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, along with your ability to interpret technical documentation like schematics and P&IDs, will be key to your success.
As you collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Support teams, and third-party contractors, your work will directly enhance equipment reliability and availability across our pipeline network.

Responsibilities/Expectations:
+ Performs complex maintenance and operational tasks with all natural gas process related equipment and systems
+ Familiarity with Rosemount Transmitters by Emerson, especially in the domains of pressure, temperature, and flow metrics
+ Proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
+ Solid understanding of 480V electrical switch gear components and their functions
+ Practical experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
+ Fundamental knowledge of CAT engines and Ariel compressors and their maintenance
+ Proven problem-solving capabilities and a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and equipment maintenance
+ An eagerness for continuous learning and adapting to evolving technologies
+ Minimizes unplanned shutdowns through root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions with a focus on improving safety
+ Fixes and maintains process control systems
+ Partners with project managers to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new projects
+ Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of
Experience:
+
Required:
High School Diploma/GED and minimum of two (2) years' experience as an Operations Technician or similar role, including one (1) year experience as an I&E Technician
+ Preferred:
Associates or 2-year technical degree and minimum of two (2) years' experience as an Operations Technician in the Oil and Gas Industry
Physical and Environment Work Requirements:
The ability to:
+ Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
+ Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed
+ Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
+ Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
+ Use hand tools
Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:
+ Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holiday as the need arises
+ May be required to work overtime, 10-12 hour shifts and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays
+ Examples of rotating shifts include the following:
+ Weekends: 7pm
-7am and Thurs. and Fri. 3pm - 11pm
+ Weekends: 7am-7pm and Mon and Tues 3pm - 11pm
+ Mon.
- Fri.: 7am-3pm, 3pm - 11pm, 11pm - 7am
Other Requirements:
+ Must possess valid State Driver's License and clean driving record
+ Demonstrates aptitude and ability to embrace technology and applications to drive operational efficiency and streamline processes
+ Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
+ Needs basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Application and PC skills
+ Previous experience working in an environment with gas-plant operations, gas compression and/or liquid or gas gathering processes
+ Previous experience in the mechanical, electrical, and/or maintenance industry
