SummaryThe Bulk Loader's primary job responsibility is to load rail cars and bulk trucks with product from the silos. The Bulk Loader will also be required to collect samples and bring them to the Lab. Will need to stay in constant communication with the manager, closely follow written and verbal instructions, and keep accurate records.
Position Duties and Responsibilities- Check and inspect the condition of rail cars and trucks to verify cleanliness and compliance with procedures.
- Load product from silos - monitor movement of product and coordinate with other workers or departments to ensure correct and consistent product flow.
- Ensure the product stays within specifications through sampling and providing the samples to the lab for regular testing.
- Keep area clean and free of debris or hazards.
- Verify load information to ensure the product is loaded into the correct rail cars or trucks.
- Operate loading equipment such as fill hose, conveyors, hoists and material handling equipment.
- Verify outlet valves, doors, or seals are in place and secure before loading.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and keep manager informed of progress and/or problems with rail cars, containers, or products.
- Must have completed all training and safety requirements. Know and use proper fall protection and other mandatory personal safety equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and keep accurate records in English.
- Ability to climb ladders on a regular basis.
- Good knowledge of company and industry GMPs, HACCPs and related policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Safety and Quality conscious.
Education must be of such level as to allow for accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities. High school diploma/equivalent or higher education preferred.
Physical Requirements- Must be able to move quickly, stand, bend, squat, reach, stretch, climb, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours. Must be able to grip, grasp, latch/unlatch and use hands to maneuver objects and equipment.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull on a regular basis up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
- Good personal hygiene.
- Ability to tolerate dust or chemicals.
- Ability to work off the ground and at considerable heights.
- Must be able to see and hear sufficiently to operate equipment safely in an environment with high levels of noise and low-lit areas.
- Quick reaction time, good hand/eye coordination, ability to perceive and judge distances.
- Willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must be willing to work outside and exposed to extreme or inclement weather conditions.
The Bulk Loader has no supervisory authority.
Working ConditionsNormal plant / manufacturing / warehouse environment. Hours of operation are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must be available for all days and all hours. Position is very physical / hands on. Will be exposed to high levels of noise, heat, cold, dust, and wet and humid conditions, and all other environmental factors normally attributed to a manufacturing environment.
Will work out of doors in all weather conditions.
