Plant Manager

Position Summary

The Plant Manager 1 provides leadership and direction to the plant in all areas of responsibility, including safety, quality, people, production, packaging, and plant supply chain operations. This position is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations and site‑specific strategic plan execution to ensure production goals are met in the most cost‑effective manner, delivering expected financial results.

• Direct the overall activities of the manufacturing facilities to ensure demand is met and products are produced and shipped at the lowest possible cost while maintaining corporate quality standards.
• Control expenses, including shrink, labor, and overhead, using continuous improvement techniques.
• Develop the annual plant budget in partnership with other functions, aligning with forecasted sales volumes and planned inventory levels.
• Manage the implementation of the plant capital budget.
• Partner with finance to ensure end‑of‑month closing schedules are met.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all aspects of the business.
• Implement plant safety programs and ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices.
• Partner with Quality to oversee the Food Security Policy/Program, assessing potential food security risks and ensuring preventive measures are implemented and audited.
• Manage all corporate, customer, and government audits to ensure compliance.
• Ensure environmental compliance.
• Collaborate with other plant managers to share best practices.
• Maintain proper staffing levels, conduct employee performance evaluations, discipline, and recognize employee performance.
• Supervise staffing, performance appraisals, training and development, promotions, salary increases, terminations, and disciplinary actions.
• Support succession planning and development of plant management staff with corporate functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business Management.
• Minimum of 5‑7 years of experience in operations, maintenance, engineering, and/or process improvement roles, including managing teams.
• Previous experience working in a Lean environment.
• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with regulatory bodies (EPA, FDA, OSHA, etc.) is required.

• Ability to define, diagnose, and resolve issues as they arise.

• Strong execution skills with the ability to influence and translate plans into action.
• Detail‑oriented and able to multi‑task and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize, maintain confidentiality, and interact with all levels of management.
• Proficient budgeting experience.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Word, Power Point, Excel).
• Extensive manufacturing knowledge.
• Understanding of safety regulations and requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
