ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for performing a variety of advanced mechanical maintenance services to support the plant facility. The role requires a proactive approach to prevent repairs, install, replace and troubleshoot complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems with minimal supervision. The employee will use hand tools and testing instruments, dismantle machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts, perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, and inspect completed work for conformance with local building and safety codes.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems.
- Fabricate and assemble equipment, which may include welding, cutting and pipe fitting.
- Perform emergency repairs on process equipment.
- Inspect facility equipment daily, performing various production startup and coverage tasks.
- Troubleshoot repairs involving PLCs, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic components.
- Use prints, specifications, and verbal instructions to repair ordinary plumbing and electrical systems; install and thread pipe, perform soldering and cutting.
- Assist in the installation of equipment.
- Cleans and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Follow all food safety principles pertinent to the position as specified by the Quality Practitioner.
- Report all food safety and human safety concerns to appropriate personnel such as QA technician, Safety Manager, or Ops Manager.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Basic electrical/mechanical knowledge required; must be familiar with electrical schematics.
- Working fundamentals of troubleshooting PLCs.
- Basic boiler safety knowledge.
- Basic welding skills: sanitary TIG, Stick and MIG welding.
- Basic plumbing and HVAC knowledge.
- Understanding of basic lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Proficient with hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
- Judgment to make decisions regarding the sequence of maintenance operations within standard practice limits.
- Ability to work in somewhat disagreeable conditions—dust, noise, fumes, and vibrations.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use reasoning to solve problems.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D required.
- Minimum of three years industrial equipment experience required.

Physical Demands:
This position requires sitting and climbing or balancing for up to one‑third of the time; walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling for one‑third to two‑thirds of the time; standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing over two‑thirds of the time. The employee must be able to lift weights ranging from 10 to more than 100 pounds for up to one‑third of the time.
