Family Advocate Spanish Speaking

Upper Valley Child Advocacy Center (UVCAC) is an organization that serves child victims of abuse. Child Advocacy Centers are child-friendly locations where law enforcement, Child Protective Services, and other investigating members of a multidisciplinary team conduct child forensic interviews and provide support to child victims and their non-offending caregivers. The intent is to reduce additional trauma to a child by bringing the investigating team together to share information, review cases, and keep the voice of the child at the forefront.

This is a position for a family advocate, the ability to speak Spanish is highly preferred. The mission of UVCAC is accomplished by the child advocates. A family advocate works directly with the child victim, non-offending caregiver, Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, prosecutors, medical, and mental health professionals. Additionally, family advocates raise awareness in the community, and provide resources for community members and partners.

• Experience organizing community events is preferred
• Associate’s degree or equivalent training or experience is preferred but not required
• The ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred but not required
• Working with children, and the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with people in crisis is crucial
• Compassionate heart and the ability to remain calm and helpful in tense situations
• Has a strong moral compass
• Must be able to pass a background check
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be able to travel to our office in Rigby,  surrounding counties
• Must be okay with working weekends and after hours occasionally, when on call

Starts at $19.26/hour includes $420/year phone stipend

Spanish Speaking $20.61/hour

After 90 days PTO and $2500 medical stipend broken out by hour (total hourly increase depends on # of hours worked.)

New hire can also take advantage of Simple 401K, company matches 3% IF employee contributes
