Operation Analyst Airpower

About this position

Your main responsibilities will involve supporting the development and analysis of current and future military operational concepts, with a focus on challenges within the air domain (Air Power).

You will conduct applied scientific research, primarily from a quantitative perspective, while also maintaining a strong awareness of and interest in the qualitative and operational aspects of these challenges.

By developing models and simulations, applying systems engineering principles or your technical expertise, and leveraging your analytical skills, you will contribute to improving the effectiveness and sustainment of Air Force operations.

In addition, together with colleagues, you will identify and clarify complex client questions, translate these into research proposals, and define a structured approach to deliver concrete results.

Working in teams with colleagues and clients, you will help achieve outcomes that are practical and applicable for Defence, thereby actively contributing to both current and future air operations of the armed forces.

Within TNO, you will be part of the Defence, Safety & Security (DSS) unit. You will participate in various multidisciplinary project teams, consisting of colleagues from within and beyond your department, and will also work independently after aligning within the teams.

Furthermore, you will collaborate with professionals from (inter) national organizations outside TNO. The role may also involve being seconded to the Air Force for one to two days per week, working on‑site.

• A completed university degree (MSc or equivalent), preferably in Operations Research, Econometrics, or Applied Mathematics.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with scripting in MATLAB, R, or Python, and affinity with programming languages such as C# or C++.
• Experience in the Defence air domain is considered a plus.

• Gross monthly salary between €4,650 and €7,100 (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33%, and a flex budget (5.58% + €180).
