Mechanical Design and Development Engineer
Location: Rincon, GA
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Position OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer I with 1–2 years of experience (or strong internship/co-op experience) to support the design and development of transformer components in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands‑on, learning‑focused role where you will work alongside experienced engineers and manufacturing teams to develop practical, manufacturable designs while building your technical foundation.
Key Responsibilities- ities
Support mechanical design of transformer components and assem - blies
Create and modify detailed drawings and models using CAD - tools
Assist with engineering calculations including basic stress, thermal, and tolerance ana - lysis
Support the design and develop ment of tools, fixtures, and manufacturing - aids
Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufactu - rable
Assist in troubleshooting production and design issues on the shop - floor
Participate in prototype builds, testing, and validation activ - ities
Maintain and update engineering documentation, drawings, and bills of mate - rials
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality and effic
- Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field1–2 years of experience in mechanical design or manufacturing (internships/co-ops strongly consi
- dered)
Exposure to a manufacturing or production envir - onment
Basic proficiency in CAD software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or si - milar)
Familiarity with engineering calculations and fundamentals (mechanics, materials, thermodyn - amics)
Strong willingness to learn and work in a hands‑on, fast‑paced envir - onment
Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing and q
- cations
Internship or co‑op experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or equipment - design
Exposure to tools, fixtures, or production suppo - rtwork
Basic understanding of fabrication processes (machining, welding, as - sembly)
Interest in power systems, transformers, or industrial eq
