The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead the electrical design and development of custom‑engineered power transformers supporting utility, renewable energy, industrial, and hyperscale data center customers.
This individual will work closely with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to develop innovative transformer designs that meet customer specifications while optimizing performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with practical engineering judgment and enjoys solving complex design challenges within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities Electrical Design- Design custom power and distribution transformers from concept through production.
- Develop electrical designs that meet customer specifications, industry standards, and manufacturing requirements.
- Perform transformer electrical calculations including:
- Efficiency optimization
- Optimize transformer designs for performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Perform electrical and electromagnetic analysis.
- Evaluate insulation coordination and dielectric performance.
- Conduct thermal evaluations.
- Support mechanical integrity through cross‑functional collaboration.
- Analyze customer technical specifications and develop compliant solutions.
- Participate in development of new transformer designs and technologies.
- Evaluate new materials and components.
- Develop standardized engineering practices where appropriate.
- Provide technical support during customer meetings.
- Review customer specifications and technical requirements.
- Support proposal development and technical presentations.
- Resolve technical questions throughout project execution.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Production.
- Support prototype builds and first‑article manufacturing.
- Resolve production‑related engineering issues.
- Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT).
- Evaluate design improvements based on test performance.
- Assist with failure investigations and field technical support.
- Improve engineering processes and design tools.
- Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop engineering documentation and best practices.
Bachelor's degree in:
- Electrical Engineering (Required)
Master's degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
Experience- 8–15+ years of electrical design experience.
- Experience designing power or distribution transformers strongly preferred.
- Experience with medium- and high‑voltage electrical equipment considered.
- Experience with in a manufacturing environment.
