Operations Manager, Production Manager
Overview
Savannah River Mill in Rincon, GA is looking for a Shift Supervisor. The Shift Supervisor will provide leadership to crews operating in the mill, ensuring clear expectations, accountability, and execution across environmental, health & safety, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and cost functions. This role is key to executing our reliability strategies and developing employee skills.
Compensation and SchedulePay starts at $27+ hourly and is commensurate with experience. The position offers advancement and overtime opportunities. Shift Supervisors work a 12‑hour rotating schedule, requiring days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Responsibilities- Foster high levels of teamwork across a diverse team
- Create an environment that promotes knowledge transfer, ownership, and continuous learning
- Facilitate the knowledge assessment, skill block qualification, and development plan process for Operating Technicians
- Set expectations, provide on‑shift coaching/feedback, and hold employees accountable to standard operating practices and daily targets
- Drive a safety‑focused culture and encourage safety participation among team members
- Plan and manage the day‑to‑day allocation of resources—people, equipment, materials, and systems—to support mill operations while on shift
- Apply critical thinking to prioritize and make operational decisions consistent with the company’s risk philosophies and value propositions
- Review daily achievement of targets and report variances during on‑floor and off‑floor review meetings
- Partner with subject matter experts to communicate and analyze operating problems, determining sustainable corrective actions
- Identify, mitigate, and broadly share critical hazards throughout the department
- Two (2) or more years of experience as a supervisor with responsibility for direct reports or leadership within a project that involved assigning/delegating tasks in a manufacturing or military environment
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience leading teams of 15 or more people
- Experience utilizing SAP, Kronos, and Process Books
- Experience in a pulp and paper manufacturing environment
- Experience troubleshooting equipment issues and facilitating Root Cause Analysis, Cause Mapping, or Failure Mode Cause Analysis
