Position SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and safety‑conscious Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all facility systems, with a strong focus on ammonia refrigeration systems, Crown Material Handling Equipment, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a broad technical skill set, including HVAC, electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics, and will be adept at troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Comply with facility Food Safety Commitment as outlined in the current BRCGS requirements.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and understand detailed instructions.
- Must be able and willing to comply with all OSHA and all other required programs.
- Perform maintenance tasks such as washing, painting, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance.
- Inspections, operations and replacement of back‑up systems. This includes generators and UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) units for emergency power.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is performed on all warehouse machinery.
- Set up and install new equipment, modify or renovate equipment as directed.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Manager on upcoming major projects and repairs.
- Assist with inventory checks and cycle counts as needed.
- Report defects, damages and malfunctions of any kind to the supervising authority.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
- Follow practices and procedures through a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point System (HACCP).
- Provide safe and legal storage of products through a quality management system.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to identify and repair hydraulic systems on all material handling and building systems. This includes fork trucks, dock levelers, up enders and tilt tables.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and environmental compliance requirements.
- Ability to identify and repair AC and/or DC voltage electrical systems. This includes high voltages (440
VAC) and control systems (5
VDC). Must be able to comply with electrical safety programs including LOTO and 70E. - Ability to identify and repair pneumatic systems. This includes air compressors, valves, switches.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, work orders and other written materials to perform required maintenance and service.
- Ability to weld, solder, braz e and cut using open flames. Must be able to comply with safety programs to ensure Hot Works, Fire Riser inspections and Fire Extinguisher inspections are handled appropriately.
- Must be able to work in a wide range of conditions such as
-30°F to ambient temperatures, walk long distances, carry 50 lbs up and down stairs. - Ability to understand Building Management Systems (BMS) for lighting, air‑conditioning, high‑speed doors for optimization is preferred.
- Landscaping maintenance such as cutting, blowing and pressure washing as well as knowledge of lighting and irrigation is preferred.

- Must be willing to wear and maintain all PPE recommended by the manufacturer for the task t be able to inspect and understand when PPE is noncompliant and needs to be replaced. This includes gloves, safety glasses and cold weather gear.
- Effective communication skills and comfortable working independently or as a team. High level of personal communication with leadership and team members is required.
- Follow and enforce all food safety and quality requirements.
- Work in an atmosphere with areas +38 to below zero.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy in a fast‑paced, workflow environment.
High School Diploma or GED and 2‑3 years of proven experience/certifications in a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
