Role Description

The Associate Director, Formulation Chemistry, Biosurgery – Med Tech is a full-time, on-site role based in Ringwood, NJ. This role leads formulation chemistry activities for biosurgery products, overseeing the design, optimization, and characterization of new and existing formulations. The person in this position will manage R&D projects, coordinate cross‑functional activities, and guide teams in translating scientific concepts into robust, scalable solutions.

Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and executing experimental plans, interpreting analytical data, assessing safety and performance profiles, and ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. The role also involves mentoring team members, collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and regulatory colleagues, and presenting technical findings and project updates to leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Research and Development (R&D) with experience leading scientific or technical projects.
  • Expertise in Chemistry and Drug Design related to formulation development for medical or pharmaceutical products.
  • Proficiency in Toxicology to evaluate safety, biocompatibility, and risk profiles of biosurgical formulations.
  • Hands‑on experience in Analytical Chemistry for method development, product characterization, and data interpretation.
  • Advanced degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (PhD or MS preferred) and relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, manage complex projects, and meet timelines in a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of medical device or combination product regulations and standards; biosurgery or biomaterials experience is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and present scientific information to technical and non-technical audiences.
