Job DescriptionThis posting is for the school year. All Educational Assistants must hold or obtain a Level 3 K-12 Educational Assistant License from the New Mexico Public Education Department and a Substitute License.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold or obtain a New Mexico Public Education Department Level 3 K-12 Educational Assistant License.
- Must hold or obtain a New Mexico Public Education Department Substitute License.
- Tier 1 – Assistants in GE and Kindergarten classrooms (library, ed tech, workroom, etc.).
- Tier 2 – Assistants in Special Education settings; may assist with feeding, cleaning, diapering, catheter equipment, toileting, hygiene, clothing changes, wheelchairs, and other daily living activities.
- Tier 3 – Assistants in social communications, approved behavioral programs, cross‑categorical programs, or CBI programs; duties similar to Tier 2 and may include working during lunch. Identified by the Executive Director of Special Services.
- Assistants may also be assigned to regular education, special education, librarians, school nurse, other professionals, or school workroom monitoring.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist teachers and professionals with preparation and delivery of instructional material.
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction.
- Assist in transferring students and caring for student needs (feeding, cleaning, diapering, catheter equipment, toileting, hygiene, clothing changes, wheelchairs, daily living activities).
- Support the implementation of goals and objectives for each student.
- Manage and redirect disruptive or combative behavior.
- Supervise students on the playground, cafeteria, restrooms, and hallways.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as per the collective bargaining agreement.
- Comply with state‑approved ethical standards, RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct, school board policies, and applicable regulations.
- Perform clerical duties for teachers.
- Perform substitute duties as assigned.
- Assume additional duties as required by the district.
Hours will align with district and school schedules as outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
