The Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) offers an MA in Curriculum and Instruction with emphasis areas in Reading, Bilingual Education, TESOL, Early Childhood Multicultural Education, and subject-specific disciplines, as well as Alternative Teacher Certification Programs in Elementary, Secondary, and Special Education. Additionally, the department delivers a wide range of graduate-level General Education courses and provides comprehensive course work in Reading, Bilingual Education, and TESOL for both undergraduate and graduate students.

and Responsibilities

Applications are invited for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position aiming to begin January 2027. Contractual responsibilities include teaching a full course load of 12 credit hours per semester (24 credit hours per academic year). Instructional duties will focus primarily on Curriculum and Instruction, Spanish, Multicultural, and Bilingual Education, with opportunities to teach in related areas based on expertise. The successful candidate will maintain an active scholarly agenda through peer-reviewed research, publication, and conference presentations.

Additionally, the incumbent will advise and mentor graduate students, serve on departmental and school committees, contribute service at local, state, regional, and national levels, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Curriculum & Instruction, Bilingual Education, Spanish-related field, and/or a closely related discipline. (ABD candidates will be considered if degree completion is expected within one academic year of appointment).
  • Teaching

    Experience:

    Minimum of two (2) years of PreK-12 teaching experience in public schools.
  • Modalities & Technology:
    Demonstrated experience and proficiency with diverse instructional delivery methods, including face-to-face, online synchronous (e.g., Zoom), asynchronous, and blended learning.
  • Communication:
    Strong digital and interpersonal communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and staff across electronic platforms.
Preferred Qualifications

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, preferred candidates will possess two or more years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate education courses. Experience in outreach, mentorship, and support initiatives tailored for first-generation college students is highly desirable.

Preferred Skills

The successful candidates must demonstrate expertise in distance education and instructional technology delivery systems. The role requires a proven ability to build collaborative partnerships with PreK-12 school districts, alongside active membership and leadership in professional educational organizations.
