Role OverviewUS Solar is seeking a community engagement expert to support our community solar enrollment efforts in New Mexico. You’ll lead and coordinate community-facing events, tabling efforts, and partner organization engagements that build trust and awareness around community solar.
This is an ideal role for a highly organized communicator who is comfortable both in the field and behind the scenes, working to make clean energy accessible and recognizable across the state.
Key Responsibilities- Organize and staff community events (e.g. tabling, local fairs, library presentations, etc.)
- Collaborate with internal teams on lead generation, communications strategy and enrollment tracking
- Present to community members and partner organization staff on community solar and the enrollment opportunity in tandem with other team members
- Distribute outreach materials in person and through partner networks
- Work with community-based partners to craft customized materials, adapting messaging for specific audiences and partners to help support community solar signups
- Represent the brand with professionalism and clarity at all public engagements
- Support the organization’s broader goal of building a trusted and recognizable presence in New Mexico, including partnering with the New Mexico commercial acquisition team when relevant
- Strong experience in community engagement, outreach coordination, grassroots campaigns and brand communication
- Self-starter who can operate independently, manage logistics and drive local outcomes
- Comfort speaking to groups, tabling at events, and representing a mission-driven brand
- Familiarity with community solar, energy affordability, or nonprofit outreach preferred
- Ability to react quickly and problem-solve in a changing environment
- 3 – 5 years of demonstratable communications and community engagement experience
- Experience with local or federal assistance programs (ex. LIHEAP, SNAP) and/or familiarity with community solar programs
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Proficiency in design tools like Canva
- Knowledge of and passion for the solar marketplace, renewable energy, and increasing access to renewable solutions for all
- Fluency in languages other than English are considered a strong differentiator
- Ability to travel within the state
