Position SummaryUnder limited direction of the Utilities Manager, manages engineering operations through performing planning, budgeting, scheduling, design and project management services, supporting gas, water, sewer and electric utilities; develops bids and awards contracts for capital projects, and manages inspections and acceptance of completed projects into the system. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information. The Deputy Utility Manager-Engineering will have the full authority of the Utilities Manager in his or her absence.
Assists the Utilities Manager in negotiating contracts and evaluating professional proposals. The Deputy Utility Manager-Engineering serves at the pleasure of the Utilities Manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, or related field.
- Seven years’ experience in utility engineering.
- Two years of supervisory experience across all years of job-related experience.
- Must possess and maintain Registered Professional Engineer in New Mexico.
- Must possess, or ability to obtain within first sixty days of employment, and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license.
- Must successfully complete mandatory drug screening and subsequent random drug and alcohol screenings.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and must be able to obtain a non-cleared U.S. Department of Energy clearance.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or related field.
