Facilities Chemical/Gas Technician – Rio Rancho, New Mexico
Intel is seeking a Facilities Chemical/Gas Technician to provide sustaining operational support for vacuum pump and abatement systems in its semiconductor manufacturing facilities. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving advanced facility systems while contributing to Intel’s mission of environmental sustainability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Provide sustaining operational support for Vacuum Pump and Abatement Systems.
- Complete preventive maintenance activities on vacuum pumps, abatement systems, heat exchangers, and support equipment.
- Troubleshoot failed systems to restore operations safely and efficiently.
- Apply knowledge of chemical compatibility for gases and process fluids.
- Manage code compliance issues related to vacuum and abatement infrastructure.
- Assist in developing operational procedures and engineering analysis.
- Complete certification packages for various equipment types.
Physical Requirements
- Shift 6: nights backend PM‑AM Wed‑Sat and alternating Saturday night.
- Compressed work week: three twelve‑hour days in a row followed by a four‑day week every other week, alternating between sub‑fab and cleanroom areas.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. 5 times per day.
- Extended time in breathing protection (APR/SAR) with full acid gear and/or chemical protection suits (Tyvek).
- Walk 3‑6 miles a day, or stand/sit for 9+ hours per day.
- BS STEM related or associate degree STEM with 2+ years of experience in Chemical and Gas Systems, Vacuum Systems, Industrial Waste, Wastewater Treatment, Facilities Maintenance, or related areas.
- OR High School Diploma or GED with 2.5+ years of related hands‑on manufacturing experience, including military experience.
- Preferred: 3+ years of prior experience in preventive maintenance programs and equipment repair processes.
