Primary responsibilities
Reviews product designs, drawings, bill of materials and assembly drawings using Solid Works/AutoCAD.Develop process modeling.
Study/analyze projects technical documents and specifications.
Provide guidance and support to manufacturing and other groups, regarding product requirements and certification (drive collaboration).Participate in and sometimes provides training (mid-level only) for other engineering team members.
Keep team members, managers, and clients aware of progress and deviations from schedule or budget so as not to disrupt the overall workflow.
Estimate the time, cost, labor, and materials that are needed to produce a real version of design engineers’ ideas. Reformulate plans along the way based on unexpected circumstances or client changes.
Adhere to and maintain best practices for documentation and version and revision control.
Release critical materials for purchasing.
Markup drawings, generate revisions or additions to existing drawing sets.
Process markups affecting multiple drawings.
Ensure consistency across drawing sets (encourage input from others).Create, revise and maintain routings and work centers in the system.
Update metrics to improve routings and production planning accuracy.
Drive cost reduction.
Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements Entry level and mid-level positions require a bachelor’s in mechanical or industrial engineering.
Mid-level position also requires 3-5 yrs of experience managing projects related to power generation systems.
MS Office and Excel intermediate (using charts, graphs, fonts, borders, shading, formulas, tables, pivot etc).AutoCAD or Solid Works experience is a plus for entry level, required for mid-level.
Possesses critical thinking, communications, organizational and time management skills
Understands metal machining and fabrication methods (lathes, mills, welding, waterjet, etc.)Machine shop experience is a plus
