Director of Licensing

We are seeking an experienced Director of Licensing to lead regulatory strategy and licensing activities for advanced nuclear technologies, nuclear facilities, and materials programs. This individual will serve as the primary interface with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and provide strategic leadership for licensing initiatives, regulatory compliance, and engagement with federal agencies.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 70
, leading licensing efforts from project development through regulatory approval. Experience supporting commercial nuclear power plants, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), utilities, research reactors, test reactors, or university-operated nuclear facilities is highly desirable. The NRC licenses commercial power reactors and research/test reactors under 10 CFR Part 50 and licenses special nuclear material activities under 10 CFR Part 70.

• Lead licensing strategy and regulatory planning for nuclear facilities and advanced reactor programs.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the NRC, managing meetings, inspections, audits, and licensing activities.
• Develop, review, and submit licensing applications, license amendments, safety analyses, and responses to NRC Requests for Additional Information (RAIs).
• Ensure compliance with applicable NRC regulations, including 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 70

• Translate regulatory requirements into engineering, operational, and program objectives.
• Partner with engineering, research, operations, and executive leadership to support successful project execution.
• Develop licensing schedules, regulatory strategies, and risk mitigation plans.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide strategic guidance on licensing impacts.

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in nuclear licensing, regulatory affairs, or nuclear operations.
• Demonstrated experience interfacing directly with the NRC.
• Strong working knowledge of 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 70
  .
• Proven experience managing licensing activities from concept through regulatory approval.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and project leadership skills.
