Valero Manager

Position Summary

The Valero Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Valero fuel station and convenience store. This position sets pricing of fuel at the pump and establishes pricing of merchandise in the convenience store. In the capacity of Manager, the position hires and trains staff to deliver the highest standard of guest service, and to maintain the facility in line with maintenance and cleanliness of the highest standards.

The position is also required to work toward achieving optimal profit margins and operating results set by annual budget, and conduct inventories to ensure the accuracy of interim financial reporting.

• Assist in the recruiting and training of positive thinking staff to become members of the Valero Team, ensuring excellent customer service following the Tesuque Casino Standards.
• Motivate, encourage, and challenge staff to perform their duties above and beyond
• Promote and resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
• Implement and enforce established daily operating procedures to ensure store is clean, sanitary, adequately stocked, organized, and well maintained
• Ensure all merchandise is stocked and displays are attractive and priced correctly
• Supervise and discipline all store employees including supervisor and assistant manager according to company policies and procedures.
• Monitor daily retail gasoline competitors.
• Complete daily paperwork and computer entry in a timely manner as established by management.
• Investigate cash overages/shortages and inventory shrinkage.
• Conduct store shift meetings as appropriate.
• Follow and enforce all Company Policies and Established Procedures
• Communicate and perform all price change requests, mark downs / ups as required.
• Look for and present ways and means to enhance the operations of Valero
• Enforce all Safety and Security Issues and report any and all unsafe conditions.

• At least five (5) years of related experience in management positions.
• Prior experience in fuel stations and/or convenience store operations, preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED, required.

• At least five (5) years of retail management experience over a progressive time frame.
• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, seven days a week (on call).
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and maintain a New Mexico drivers license.

The Valero Manager is responsible for overseeing all staff in the Valero operations, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. The Valero Manager provides guidance and assistance in addressing unusual situations that may arise, particularly those without clear precedents or requiring interpretation of policies and guest relations.

Following initial training, the Valero Manager is expected to perform duties independently, demonstrating proficiency and autonomy in task execution. Regular spot checks are conducted to evaluate accuracy, adequacy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant rules, regulations, and policies.
