General OverviewRust Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Room (ER) Nurse to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of ED patients in a fast-paced environment and work alongside a team of dedicated healthcare professionals. - Triage and assess incoming patients to determine severity of illness or injury and prioritize care accordingly.
- Monitor vital signs and patient status; regularly check and record vitals and monitor any changes to detect early signs of deterioration.
- Provide immediate treatments such as IV access, airway support (e.g., intubation, tracheotomy), immobilization of fractures, suturing, or hemorrhage control.
- Administer medications—including IVs, blood products, or prescribed therapies—ensuring correct dosing and timely delivery per physician orders.
- Perform or assist with diagnostic testing, including lab draws, imaging, and other procedures; gather and interpret results to inform care decisions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, paramedics, techs, and specialists, to develop care plans, refer patients, and facilitate transfers or admissions.
- Accurately document patient histories, interventions, responses, vital signs, and discharge instructions, maintaining compliance with legal and hospital standards.
- Communicate with patients and families, providing clear information, emotional support, and education while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain infection control and department upkeep by cleaning and restocking equipment and ensuring a safe environment.
- Assist with discharge planning and referrals, arranging home care, rehabilitation services, specialist follow‑ups, or admissions to psychiatric units as needed.
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
- BLS certification REQUIRED at the time of hire
