Job SummarySeeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to complement a full scope dynamic midwifery service that provides services in both the outpatient ambulatory and inpatient setting. Our program serves six practice locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas, and Santa Fe. The candidate will identify, evaluate, and address disease prevention and health promotion issues to provide comprehensive women’s health care throughout the lifespan, with an emphasis on reproductive, gynecologic, and family‑centered health education while delivering quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Evaluates and treats low‑to‑moderate risk obstetrical patients for antepartum, labor, and postpartum care.
- Triages patients to the appropriate level of care when outside the CNM scope; includes ambulatory clinic encounters, hospital setting, and telephone interactions.
- Evaluates patients for labor; admits to the hospital and manages the labors of low‑to‑moderate risk patients.
- Works in collaboration with PMG physicians, OB hospitalists, and Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and disease pathophysiology specific to the obstetrical and gynecologic population from menarche through the remainder of the lifespan.
- Diagnoses and treats conditions within scope, including obstetrical and common gynecologic acute and chronic healthcare issues.
- Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures per guidelines.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical problems and healthcare needs.
- Documents physical findings and formulates a plan and prognosis based on the patient’s condition.
- Applies pharmacologic agents, including dangerous drugs, with knowledge of desired effects, side effects, and complications.
- Educates patients and families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed treatments.
- Collaborates independently or interdependently with medical staff, allowing for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
- Refers patients to physicians or specialized resources as needed.
- Facilitates evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and Quality & Standards teams according to protocols, receiving and implementing constructive directives.
- Performs other functions as required by the department.
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Graduate of an ACNM‑accredited nurse midwifery program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CNM preferred.
- Current unrestricted license to practice in New Mexico as a CNM.
- Active NM Board of Pharmacy (CSR) and Federal DEA certification.
- Electronic fetal monitoring certification obtained or obtainable.
