Summary:

Presbyterian is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Oncology team. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient-centered care to individuals undergoing cancer treatment and recovery. Working collaboratively with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while supporting patients and families throughout their treatment journey.

Responsibilities:
* Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken and patient responses.
* Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
* Provides supportive care and education to patients and their families, to include referrals and bereavement counseling.
* Initiates, utilizes and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
* Administers chemotherapy medication and other oncology treatments as prescribed by physician, or standard protocols and documents according to policy.
* Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout episode of care.
* Evaluates patient progression toward outcomes per unit standards and documents through EOSS etc.
* Performs competently in emergency situations.
* Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency or licensure to perform the task.
* Provides leadership through communication about and validation of patient care.
* Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
* Assists in orientation and training of new staff or students and serve as a resource person and professional role model.
* Assumes professional responsibility for current nursing structure and clinical standards of care.

Qualifications:

* Associates degree from accredited academic nursing program preferred, with expectation of BSN completion within 5 years of hire. Education agreement contract to be signed upon hire.
* BSN degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program preferred
* State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
* 2 years medical surgical or ICU nursing experience preferred,
* Experience in Oncology or Infusion centers preferred.
* Must maintain chemotherapy/biotherapy/immunotherapy provider certification during employment in Oncology department.
* Chemotherapy/Biotherapy/Immunotherapy provider certification required within 1 month of hire
* National Oncology Certification required to be obtained within 2-3 years of hire.
* Maintain educational requirements as per standards related to national oncology accreditations upheld by Cancer Care Services.
* ACLS required

* PALS required
