Job Description

General Maintenance - 7105 Maint A-Mechanic

San Juan Mine is seeking an experienced and dedicated
Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy machinery to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to supporting operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic evaluations, preventive maintenance, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment, including but not limited to loaders, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, and forklifts.

Inspect machinery for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

Conduct component repairs and replacements in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards.

Utilize diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical schematics to accurately identify and resolve issues.

Maintain detailed service logs, repair records, and equipment status reports.

Ensure compliance with company policies, MSHA regulations, and industry safety standards at all times.

Collaborate with operations and management teams to minimize equipment downtime and support production goals.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in heavy equipment repair strongly preferred.

Minimum [5] years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic.

Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.

Proficiency with diagnostic tools, mechanical equipment, and repair procedures.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
