240 Contract

Minimum Qualifications
  • Certificate, license, or other legal credentials preferred:
    • Possess or be able to obtain within 60 days a New Mexico Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate school bus and passenger endorsements preferred. Training provided; and
    • Minimum 24 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience required:
    • Three years of experience in school bus transportation.
    • Knowledge of State and Federal school bus transportation regulations.
    • Experience with and understanding of GPS and routing systems.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret routing data.
    • Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
    • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person, in writing, and on the telephone.
    • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of MS Office, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Routing systems.
    • Strong skills at working alone and in teams.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Executive Director of Student Transportation may find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the transportation of students to and from school.
  • Respond appropriately to all radio and phone calls.
  • Coordinate and assign the work of stand by and activity drivers.
  • Physically check the commercial driver’s license of every bus driver on a daily basis to make sure that it is valid and in the drivers possession before school bus keys are issued.
  • Provide all necessary documents to drivers and attendants to complete their assignments.
  • Prepare morning, mid-day, and afternoon route assignments.
  • Must become expertly familiar with all bus routes and bus stops in the District.
  • Assists in preparing bus routes for all schools.
  • Assists in preparing bus schedules for all schools.
  • Assists in the review of routes and new programs as needed.
  • Assists in collecting information and data for miscellaneous reporting and documentation.
  • Process inquiries and requests regarding student transportation.
  • Good communication skills (oral, written, or business):
    Basic communication skills to exchange information give/receive simple instructions and respond to inquiries. Accurately completes written records of work performed.
  • Acts as a liaison with the community, District staff, school administrators, and parents concerning transportation-related issues/concerns.
  • Promotes customer service philosophies within a service-oriented organization.
  • Upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, District policy and administrative regulations.
  • Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community, and other professionals.
  • Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities, and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Attends staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.
  • Complies with state-approved New Mexico Administrative Code of Ethical Responsibility of the Education Profession and the RRPS Employee Standards of Conduct and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations.
  • Employee may be assigned other duties based on the needs of the District during the term of employment.
Terms of Employment

Terms of Employment: 240-day employee. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Evaluation

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

Work Hours

Work Hours: Work hours will be in accordance with hours determined by the Executive Director of Student Transportation.
