Job Title Summary

The Airport Line Service Technician would perform the maintenance and operations of Sierra Blanca Regional Airport, including ARFF, EMR, maintaining FAA regulations, radio communications, fuel sales, airfield and physical plant maintenance, security, and hangar and tie‑down leasing, inventory, and sales.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and operations of the Airport.
  • Customer Service
  • Transports large quantities of flammable liquids short distances
  • Maintain the airfield in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 139 standards; maintain certain records related to airfield inspections, including discrepancies and corrective actions.
  • Attend and be proficient in annual safety training.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to advance the department's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Understand and follow the policies, goals and procedures of the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport and Village of Ruidoso.
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with the Federal Aviation Administration and adhere to Federal Regulations.
  • Perform duties related to aviation/aircraft operations including daily inspections of the airfield and equipment, refueling aircraft, towing, lab service, use of Auxiliary Power Unit, use of air‑to‑ground radio for airfield advisories, and passenger assistance as needed; conduct daily duties with the interest of providing the highest quality of customer service possible.
  • Assist in adherence to regulations, reporting requirements and preparation for annual inspection.
  • Adhere to safety practices and standards; attend safety meetings and trainings.
  • Publicize and promote Sierra Blanca Regional Airport.
  • Responsible for minor maintenance on all equipment at Sierra Blanca Regional Airport.
  • Perform security inspections related to preventing theft and vandalism on all airport property including the fuel farm.
  • Perform property management duties such as general maintenance of all airport equipment and vehicles, airport buildings including the main terminal, ARFF/Maintenance building, leased hangars, parking lot and fuel farm; maintain a safe work area.
  • Train in airport emergency response methods, tactics and techniques, including ARFF, hazardous materials, EMR first responder, and AED/CPR; participate in actual emergency incidents as needed or required.
  • Provide knowledge and assistance to representatives with on‑property equipment such as FAA NAVAID technicians, SEAT base operator, Air Care medical flights, and AWOS technicians.

Job Requirements
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and workshops as required.
  • Maintain timesheets based on actual hours worked; submit them accurately and timely on a bi‑weekly basis.
  • Ensure any on‑the‑job injury is reported immediately and followed up with appropriate forms and actions.
  • Report any suspected fraud and/or abuse to the Airport Director or Deputy Village Manager or Village Manager.
  • Ensure any reports of harassment are immediately reported and appropriate actions are taken.
  • Ensure compliance with the Village’s IT Policy, Personnel Manual, Procurement Policy and Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Prefer six months experience in fueling and providing ground handling services to aircraft owner/operators.
  • Must successfully complete Arctic Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) training and certification within 12 months from date of hire.
  • Must successfully complete Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification within 24 months from date of hire.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability of personal computer operations within a Windows Microsoft environment, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
