Starting Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 per year based on experience, plus $5,000 relocation bonus.
Location:
Oakland, CA – Special Education Program, Grades K‑12.
The Education Program Director is the instructional & operations leader for a Special Education site. This role is responsible for guiding staff, ensuring high‑quality instruction, maintaining compliance, and continuously improving student outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide visionary leadership to drive student achievement and ensure smooth, effective operations.
- Supervise staff, develop and implement performance management plans, and promote professional learning.
- Participate in recruitment and selection to build a skilled faculty/staff team.
- Analyze staff professional development needs and align them with the instructional vision.
- Lead the induction and training of new staff, directly or through designees.
- Monitor facilities and programs for safety compliance, staffing ratios, and crisis protocol readiness.
- Oversee daily school operations, scheduling, custodial and maintenance efforts, food and transportation services, and budgeting.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and resource allocation in partnership with the direct supervisor.
- Participate in enrollment, managing rosters, referral processes, and transition planning toward the least restrictive environment.
- Instruct, monitor, and evaluate staff and students on teaching materials and instructional fidelity.
- Observe, evaluate, and report staff and student performance using approved tools.
- Participate in accreditation and quality assurance processes to meet or exceed standards.
- Prepare and present reports on student achievement, development, and activities.
- Compile, analyze, and utilize assessment data to track growth and guide interventions.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records of student progress in compliance with laws and policies.
- Ensure timely completion and distribution of grades, report cards, IEP progress reports, and transcripts.
- Promote a positive school culture through appropriate student behavior programs and disciplinary measures.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and academic counseling to students facing challenges.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall program success.
- Must hold or be in the process of obtaining one or more of the following credentials:
Master’s degree or higher in education, special education, psychology, counseling, or a related field; educational leadership or administrator credential with minimum 2 years experience with pupils with disabilities; pupil personnel services credential; clinical social worker (LCSW); licensed psychologist; credential authorizing special education instruction; or similar relevant license. All credentials must be from an accredited institution. - Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company‑approved crisis management training.
- Minimum 2 years prior experience in an educational leadership or school administrator role.
- Minimum 2 years prior teaching experience in a special education program setting.
- Minimum 2 years prior experience working with pupils with learning disabilities, emotional‑behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, or related disabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, differentiated instruction, and IEP administration.
- Effective management skills and comprehensive knowledge of school operations, enrollment, accreditation, and compliance laws.
- Proficiency in applied behavior analysis, PBIS, functional behavior analysis, and behavior intervention plans.
- Strong communication, organizational, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and Microsoft Office Suite.
