Retail Relationship Banker

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service by identifying needs and advising on financial solutions.
• Conduct needs‑based assessments to grow loyalty and uncover sales opportunities.
• Recommend appropriate solutions, including everyday banking, retail investments, loans, home financing, and small‑business products.
• Promote and explain digital and self‑serve options to simplify banking.
• Support customers with transactions and manage transaction throughput.
• Initiate outreach, schedule appointments, and build new relationships within the community.
• Resolve issues through audits and quality checks, ensuring accurate data entry and compliance.
• Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework to protect the bank’s assets and maintain lending portfolio quality.
• Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions in line with policy.
• Integrate marketing promotions into conversations to provide strategic advice.
• Organize work for accuracy and completeness, and contribute to ongoing customer‑experience improvement.
• Maintain flexibility to work across branches and channels according to market needs.
• Ensure adherence to risk and compliance processes, safeguarding customers’ assets and privacy.
• Keep current knowledge of products and market trends, and identify suspicious activity related to anti‑money‑laundering.
• Handle escalations and analyze issues to determine next steps within established rules.

• 2–3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Post‑secondary degree in a related field desirable.
• Canada only: registration to sell investment products (as applicable).
• Appropriate lending qualifications and designations.
• Strong knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs and solutions.
• Familiarity with retail investments and lending products.
• Experience in financial services and a consultative, customer‑service or sales role.
• Proficiency with social media, tablets, smartphones, online tools, and applications.
• Results‑oriented, self‑starter with strong interpersonal, organizational, collaboration, and analytical skills.
• U.S. only: originator of consumer loans under Regulation Z, Regulation G and the S.A.F.E. Act; requires federal registration and background review.

Salary: $41,714.00 – $69,000.00, with potential commission and discretionary bonuses based on performance. BMO offers health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
