Overview
A key technical contributorto the Product Engineering group wholeadsthe design, development, and execution of projects that enhance manufacturability, quality, and customer satisfaction. Working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, you will play a vital role in bringing new laundry products to market while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives for our existing product line. You willbe responsible for engineering andvalidatingparts, assemblies, and systems, ensuring they meet cost, warranty, and performance addition to your technical responsibilities, you will also play a vital role in mentoring and guiding engineers, fostering their growth and development within the team.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and support mechanical and electrical sub-systems and components.
- Utilize 3D CAD (Creo) to design sheet metal, plastic, die cast,machinedparts, andcreate assemblies.
- Evaluate and test designs for manufacturability, automation, performance, safety, reliability,agencyand cost.
- Partner with a cross functional team, including communicating with and collecting input from a wide range of sources,to identify, design and improve existing designs.
- Provide technicalassistancefor engineering& pilot builds.
- Write, review, and improve product specifications,test procedures, and technical publications.
- Release andmaintainproductbillof materials.
- Support production as needed.
- Assigned toteams to develop products from concept to production using structured qualification plans.
Education& Experience:
- Bachelor’sdegree in Mechanical
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology orotherrelevantfieldrequired.
- At least8yearsof design/product engineering related experience
- Experience in the design and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems, especially in the areasofsheet metal fabrication,injectionmolded plastics,castings,motors,belts,andelectro-mechanical components.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a project team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on business priorities.
- Competent with 3D modeling and drawing creation in Creo or other similar software.
- Previous experience in the applianceor similarindustry is desirable.
- Hands oncontributorwith strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated abilityto translate complex problems using non-technical terms.
- Work under minimal direction and guided by project objectives.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including automation.
- Good working knowledge of PC applications.(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability tooverseeand executesmall tomedium size projects from start to finish.
- Demonstrated passion for leading and mentoring other engineers
