Quality Supervisor

Job Summary

The Quality and Sanitation Supervisor manages the day‑to‑day activities of quality assurance technicians, reviews paperwork, and engages production teams to drive food safety and quality initiatives throughout the plants. This role coordinates the sanitation team, directs sanitation leads, and ensures compliance with program plans while maintaining customer, regulatory, and certification compliance through environmental monitoring, routine inspections, and dedicated meetings.

• Delegate, train, and manage the work activities of QA and Sanitation staff; provide performance feedback and periodic reviews.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to recommend recruitment, hiring, promotion, and discipline of staff.
• Manage technicians and serve as backup; plan and organize cost‑effective auditing and testing activities.
• Collaborate with other departments to identify needs and optimize audit/testing of raw goods to ensure all methodologies match business needs.
• Supervise audits and testing procedures, hold resolution, calibrate equipment, and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient work.
• Ensure compliance with GMPs, safety procedures, and audit/testing criteria.
• Communicate, train, and promote food and personal safety; conduct operations in accordance with safety rules and maintain audit scores.
• Maintain and communicate product specifications and sample programs for all product lines.
• Foster continuous improvement culture; develop goals, communicate standards, mentor and motivate to optimize performance and personal growth.
• Collaborate with internal and external customers, suppliers, and interdisciplinary teams to provide technical assistance.
• Lead cross‑functional improvement/project teams as a proponent.
• Generate customer required documentation such as COAs.
• Review and update Quality Assurance systems and procedures.
• Write and revise SOPs and SSOPs for food safety and sanitation.
• Perform routine tasks and trend data from EMP programs, customer complaints, and testing results.
• Direct sanitation team activities and manage employee training schedule and records, including onboarding.
• Act as SQF Practitioner or backup SQF Practitioner and perform additional assigned duties.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a related QA and/or Sanitation environment, including at least 1 year managing direct reports.
• 1 year of experience ensuring compliance with food safety and quality programs.
• Certifications:
  
  SQF Practitioner (mandatory), HACCP (mandatory), PCQI (mandatory).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish fluently (mandatory).
• Preferred: 4‑year degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.
• Strong leadership, organization, time‑management, delegation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
• Understanding of food principles, pathogens, FDA regulations, and experience managing multiple high‑importance tasks.
• Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends as necessary.

• Standard office environment; occasional lift of 25+ lbs., stand for long periods, and work off‑shift as needed.
