Peckar & Abramson, P.C., a leading national law firm and innovator in construction law, is currently seeking an experienced financial professional to join our company as a Billing Coordinator. Based in our New Jersey office, the Billing Coordinator will serve as a key member of our Billing team, responsible for handling the full spectrum of billing activities, including electronic billing, managing client account ledgers, addressing client inquiries, and reconciling accounts.
This role also supports firm leadership with the preparation and analysis of billing and financial reports. The ideal candidate will bring solid billing experience, proficiency with integrated accounting software, and strong skills in preparing accounts receivable and client analysis reports. Exceptional communication abilities are essential, as you will be expected to clearly explain billing procedures and concepts to colleagues across the firm.
and Responsibilities
- Prepare and revise pre-bills per partner instructions, including time/cost edits in line with firm policy.
- Finalize and post invoices using firm financial software.
- Ensure client billing guidelines are met; submit invoices electronically via Bill-Blast, and coordinate corrections for rejected E-Bills.
- Modify LEDES files as needed to address missing or incorrect codes; resolve billing issues such as rejections or deductions.
- Oversee matter setup and ensure compliance with client and partner preferences, including necessary codes, budgets, AFAs, and billing standards.
- Respond promptly to attorney and client inquiries; escalate issues when appropriate.
- Collaborate with finance and legal teams to meet firm objectives and cover team absences.
- Maintain compliance with firm policies and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Prepare billing reports and analyses as requested.
- Handle extra billing and collection duties as needed.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, or equivalent experience, is preferred. 2–3 years of work experience in a law firm or professional services environment is required. Previous familiarity with software such as Aderant, Bill Blast, E-Hub, and iManage, is advantageous. Proven skills in MS Office programs—including Excel, Word, and Outlook—are necessary.
Skills include problem solving, data analysis, effective oral and written communication, financial reporting, and the ability to collaborate with others.

- The listed salary range applies exclusively to candidates who will be working or residing in New Jersey if selected for the position. Final compensation will be determined by internal salary guidelines, market benchmarks, relevant skills and experience, educational qualifications, and certifications. New Jersey Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000.
