Job Summary

Under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator and/or Nursing Unit Director, the registered nurse will:

• Perform nursing patient care duties for the assigned unit or department.
• Plan, provide, and evaluate total nursing care in accordance with the established patient care philosophy.
• Facilitate individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing, following departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
• Relate effectively with other shifts for continuity of care, maintain satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units, and participate in all phases of education.

Essential Functions

• Identify existing and potential problems and seek or implement appropriate solutions.
• Perform care interventions, including specimen collection, wound care, and medication administration. Document patient care provided.
• Plan, organize, and facilitate nursing care for assigned patients.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and mobility.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations

• Require critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate's degree in Nursing required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• PALS within 6 months of hire.
• Handle with Care Certification within 6 months.
• Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Georgia.

Experience

• Six (6) months of experience as an RN in a direct patient care setting, unless entering the Nurse Residency Program.
