Job Summary
Under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator and/or Nursing Unit Director, the registered nurse will:
- Perform nursing patient care duties for the assigned unit or department.
- Plan, provide, and evaluate total nursing care in accordance with the established patient care philosophy.
- Facilitate individualized, goal-directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing, following departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Relate effectively with other shifts for continuity of care, maintain satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing units, and participate in all phases of education.
Essential Functions
- Identify existing and potential problems and seek or implement appropriate solutions.
- Perform care interventions, including specimen collection, wound care, and medication administration. Document patient care provided.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate nursing care for assigned patients.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and mobility.
- Monitor, document, and communicate patient status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations
- Require critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
- ACLS within 6 months of hire.
- PALS within 6 months of hire.
- Handle with Care Certification within 6 months.
- Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Georgia.
Experience
- Six (6) months of experience as an RN in a direct patient care setting, unless entering the Nurse Residency Program.
