PROMISE Program 7th Grade Math Instructor; Dominican University

Overview

IMSA is committed to equity and excellence, including the active recruitment of students from all areas of Illinois. IMSA’s PROMISE Program addresses the unique challenges of culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse (CLED) students who have an interest in STEM education by providing academic enrichment programming at low to no cost. This grant-funded program is open to all students, especially Black or African American students, Latinx students, students who qualify for the national free or reduced-price meal program, as well as students from rural Illinois counties.

The PROMISE Program consists of three grade-based experiences serving students 7th
-9th grade.

Currently, we are seeking a Math
Instructor for the Spring 2026 PROMISE Program which serves non-IMSA students currently enrolled in the 7th grade
. The program will run on 8 designated Saturday sessions. In this program, candidates will work with students that have varying academic backgrounds.

• Expected work hours are Saturdays 8:30AM - 1:00PM
• Maximum number of participants:
• 7th Grade: 45
• Session Dates:
• February 7
• February 21
• March 7
• March 21 (Virtual)
• April 4
• April 18
• May 2
• May 16 (Virtual)

• Three 60 minute classes each session consisting of approximately 15 students per group.
• Schedule:
  • Check In / Continental Breakfast: 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM
  • Class 1: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
  • Class 2: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • Class 3: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Dismissal at 12pm

• Develop a daily lesson plan. This may include approved original curriculum, activities used in previous years, or curriculum provided by the IMSA Outreach department
• Lead lectures and hands on activities with assistance from student tutors
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment for participating students

This position pays $46.00 per hour. This position is not benefits eligible.
