Position OverviewThe Adult Education Student Support Specialist serves as a key member of the Adult Education & Continuing Studies team, supporting the academic success, retention, and engagement of adult and nontraditional learners. The Graduate Assistant will provide high-quality student communication, assist with recruitment and administrative operations, maintain advising resources, and contribute to data tracking and reporting that inform program planning and continuous improvement.
This role is ideal for a graduate student interested in higher education administration, advising, student services, or adult and workforce education.
- Send timely registration reminders, advising notifications, and follow‑up messages to current students.
- Maintain and update degree plan spreadsheets, course tracking documents, and other student advising tools.
- Assist with outreach to enrolled adult learners and provide communication support to help address questions, scheduling needs, or barriers to enrollment.
- Support team by preparing advising materials and coordinating semester‑based communication plans.
- Assist with communication to prospective students, including email outreach, event reminders, and follow‑up contact.
- Track and organize incoming inquiries; maintain accurate records in inquiry management systems.
- Support the preparation of recruitment materials, information packets, presentation slides, and application resources.
- Provide administrative support for scheduling advising meetings, and student appointments.
- Compile enrollment, advising, and retention‑related data to support decision‑making and program planning.
- Assist with preparing reports, summaries, and dashboards that inform course scheduling, capacity planning, and advising workflows.
- Help track progress toward institutional goals related to adult learner engagement, persistence, and academic outcomes.
- Maintain updated advising documents, forms, and student resources across various platforms.
- Organize program materials and process documentation for the Adult Education and Continuing Studies team.
- Ensure accuracy and accessibility of student‑facing information, including program guides, course maps, and FAQs.
- Assist with revising and improving resource materials as program needs evolve.
- Enrollment in a Dominican University graduate program (required).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in adult education, advising, higher education administration, or student support services.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Competence with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with spreadsheets and data entry preferred.
- Collaborative, proactive, and student‑centered approach to work.
